Electronic Data Interchange: Guidelines for Use and Design

摘要

EDI is an inter-organizational transmission of business transactions in a standard format. Using EDI, a firm can generate operational, managerial, and strategic advantages. Implementation of EDI is not a technical challenge, it is an important strategic management issue. In this article, the workings of EDI are described, and the technical and organizational considerations for the successful implementation and use of EDI are presented.
