China's strategy for future hydro development

摘要

China is the leading country in the world in terms of the scale of hydropower development. After a brief comparison of Chinese progress compared with other major hydro generating countries, this article reviews the influence of recent power sector reforms on hydro development, and describes progress at some of the major projects under construction (including Three Gorges) and planned for implementation over the next ten years.
