The Tashlyk pumped-storage plant: a key element in the Ukranian power system

This article describes the design, construction and operating regime of the 900 MW Tashlyk pumped-storage plant, an important element of the South-Ukranian Power Complex. The plant operates in conjunction with the 3000 MW South-Ukranian nuclear plant, and integration of the two facilities offers a number of technical and economic advantages. They share a single control system and grid connection facilities, and the Tashlyk reservoirs supply cooling water to the nuclear plant.
