Largest PV project in Pakistan is inaugurated

One of the first utility-scale PV projects in Pakistan and the largest in the country, the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park, has been inaugurated. The 100 MW plant occupies an area of 2 km~2. Key challenges of Quaid-e-Azam is that it is in the Punjab, which has some of the highest solar irradiance in the world. With approximately 3000 hours of sunlight each year, the region is highly suitable for PV power generation. However the region's hot and dry climate, where temperatures reach up to 50℃, requires rugged and reliable modules. TBEA SunOasis won contracts for the engineering, procurement and construction, as well as operation and maintenance of the initial 100 MW phase of the project, last year. Clenergy and Powerway won orders for mounting systems.
