The partly automated CFD design process is an efficient tool for the optimization of turbine runners. As an example, stable operation in a wide discharge range with good efficiencies and good cavitation characteristics was achieved for the Xenamnoy 2-Xekatam 1 plant. With FEA and other analyses, the estimated fatigue time can be predicted during the engineering process and unforeseen problems and costs can be avoided. @@1.
