ICBC to finance Caculo Cabaca

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) will provide up to US$ 4.5 billion of finance for the construction of the 2171 MW Caculo Cabaca storage hydro project on the Kwanza river in northern Angola. Financing agreements for the project, located in Kwanza Norte province, downstream from the 2070 MW Lauca dam and hydro project, were signed in late November. The project will benefit from insurance cover by China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure) to guarantee China's largest investment in Angola to date.
