摘要

Technology of Fuel Cells is familiar to the scientific community since more than a century. The high efficiency with which this route converts chemical energy to the much-needed electrical energy is also well understood. This effluent free technology is a blessing to environment consciousness. Yet, Fuel Cell as a product has a long way to go before reaching the scale of economy in market segment. Factors responsible for the dichotomy are several, including the noble catalysts, high cost membranes, high technology ceramics, processing technologies, etc. The need of the hour is to bring about innovations that can result in improving product reliability, sustainability and afford-ability. The emphasis, therefore, is on well coordinated partnership amongst Academicians Scientists, Engineers and Industry.
