Although the importance of the two issues is always stressed by the respective authors, these topics, and thus facility location, are generally treated only in a very superficial way. The volume under discussion, however, is quite different from the other publications as it deals exclusively with location analysis. Yet before starting to read this book, the reader should be aware that today location analysis cannot be regarded as solely a geographical domain;instead it constitutes a common area of research to scientists engaged in computer science, mathematics, operations research, and transportation science.
