I am very sorry for writing this letter, but, unfortunately, in a paper published by Dr. Jan Papuga in a recent issue of International Journal of Fatigue [1], I have found some wrong assertions commenting and judging my multiaxial fatigue criterion.Even though I do not agree with many of the considerations reported in the above paper, this letter is to clarify some points which concern me personally. In more detail, Dr. Papuga attempted to use the criterion I have devised [2], which I call the Modified Wohler Curve Method (MWCM), in order to check its overall accuracy in estimating high-cycle fatigue strength of plain engineering materials subjected to multiaxial fatigue loading.
