摘要

The Direct Current Potential Drop (DCPD) method has been investigated to estimate the crack size in axial fatigue tests of single-edge-crack round bars. The measurability, sensitivity, and reproducibility of the DCPD measurement have been evaluated by means of 3D electrical FE analyses for a range of geometrical configurations of current and potential probes. The accuracy of the numerical analyses has been checked against results of crack propagation experiments, where a compact clip-on gauge device seating both current and potential probes of the DCPD equipment has been adopted.
