EDITORIAL

摘要

Welcome to the first 2013 edition of the International Journal of Fashion Design, Technology and Education (IJFDTE)! In the spirit of a young and carefree New Year I have decided to keep this editorial as light-hearted as possible. After all, it is hard to be too serious when we are all given a new lease of life after the 'failed' 2012 Mayan prophesies allegedly relating to the end of the world. When cable TV promptly aired the movie '2012', a number of lighthearted questions popped into my head. For example, what would be the selection criteria for a government's 'must be saved' list? What would be the chances that fashion designers might get chosen for the 'ark' over engineers and life scientists? What statistical tools would be used to ensure (or perhaps just demonstrate) fairness?
