Experiences and degree of learning among fashion students participating in an intergenerational community-focused activity

Trends reveal there is a growing older adult population because people are living longer, and the baby boomers are reaching 65 years of age. It is estimated that by the year 2030, 70 million Americans (20%) will be 65 years or older (Colby & Ortman, 2015). The aging population has been identified as a primary trend that will exert power and influence change. As a result of these trends it is important for instructors to incorporate the aging population in training future professionals, particularly those seeking employment in the fashion industry where there is a need to cater to this growing demographic.
