Following the scope of the series, the present volume includes five reviews on different subjects related to the presence and toxicity of chemical and biological contaminants in the environment and to new tools for environmental risk assessment. The first chapter, dealing with 'The Impact of Environmental Chemicals on Wildlife Vertebrates', provides extensive information on the casual relationships between exposure and reproduction or population structure effects on different families of vertebrates, such as fish, amphibian, reptilian, birds and mammals.
