This is a well written, well articulated and engaging scholarly text. It is very readable and this is one reason why I have no hesitation in recommending this book for inclusion in the reading lists of undergraduate and postgraduate entrepreneurship courses. As an entrepreneurship scholar, I must confess that, on being invited to review this book, I was prepared to be critical and cynical. However, my initial misgivings quickly evaporated as I read further. The 'born versus made' argument is a well rehearsed one, and one of the challenges from a pedagogical perspective is to interest students in the trait and personality literature. As seasoned lecturers, we become used to dusting off the same old arguments each semester. Shane's book is helpful in this respect because DNA and genes are appreciably more 'avant-garde' than dry descriptions of traits and behaviours.
