Technology Acceptance Model: A Replicated Test Using TETRAD

The technology acceptance model proposes that ease of use and usefulness predict the acceptance of information technology. Since its inception, the model has been widely applied in understanding user acceptance behavior. In a recent study on e-commerce applications, we surprisingly found that the model was validated when tested in isolation but failed within the larger nomological network. In this paper, we applied TETRAD III to explore the issue. As expected, we discovered two spurious associations in the model and fundamentally challenge its validity and hundreds of related studies.
