I first met Adrian Bejan in August 1984 at a session titled 'Second Law Aspects of Thermal Design' that he organized at the ASME Niagara Falls Conference. During the following year, I read one of his books (he had already published two) and we met next at the first meeting of the 'Second Law Analysis of Energy Systems' group, organized by Richard Gaggioli at the ASME 1985 winter conference, when Ozer Arnas was the Chair of the Advanced Energy Systems Committee.rnThat group has been, in the following 25 years, by far the most prolific community in the field of Applied Thermodynamics.
