The project develops the requirement to turn a nuclear beta radioactive emitter, interacting with crystal scintillators to generate photons to power solar cells. The new beta-photo battery exceeds the performance of thermoelectric batteries under NASA development, because successfully dissipates the extreme heat involved. The scintillator thickness or covering allowed to trap the kinetic energy of the beta particles provides shielding to radiation damage. The beta emitters mixed with the scintillator release energy with a lowered contain of the most dangerous beta particles, those previously reaching the higher kinetic energy spectrum.
