Dual-band transparent and non-transparent antennas for wireless application

摘要

An optically transparent antenna fabricated using conductive oxide thin film AgHT-8 is presented. The proposed antenna is compared with two other antennas made up of materials AgHT-4 and copper which form the patch and ground, respectively. Glass is used as a transparent substrate material having a relative permittivity of 5.5, loss tangent of 0.075 and thickness of 2 mm. The antennas have an overall dimension of 0.4λ×0.4λ mm~2 at centre frequency of 2.4 GHz which is kept consistent for performance comparison. Measured return loss shows impedance bandwidth of the order 10.20% at 3.68 GHz and 5.12% at 5.52 GHz for AgHT-8, 9.71% at 3.77 GHz and 3.81% at 5.58 GHz for AgHT-4 and 8.42% at 3.79 GHz and 4.42% at 5.69 GHz for copper-based antenna. The radiation pattern of the transparent resonator using AgHT-8 has unidirectional and dipole-like pattern. The efficiency of the proposed antenna shows good resemblance with measured results, making the antenna suitable for WiMAX M3500T-01/04 (3.4GHz-3.8GHz) and IEEE 802.11a (America) applications.
