摘要

One successful traveling wave protection is guaranteed by an accurate fault traveling wave detection. The traveling wave signals are normally detected through the Rogowski coil based traveling wave sensors. However, the secondary signal of the sensor is severely distorted. To handle this, a novel detection method of voltage traveling waves based on frequency division inversion is proposed. Firstly, the features of the traveling wave collected by the sensor are studied. Secondly, the variational mode decomposition is deployed to decompose the secondary signal components into different frequency bands. To further improve the precision, the analysis method is established for the spectrum and amplitude of each signal component, thus the optimal number of decomposing layers can be determined. The correlations between the signal components and the original signal are also taken into account. Finally, the inversion of each component can be generated by the conjugate gradient inversion algorithm, and be synthesized to obtain the fault traveling wave signal subsequently. The case study validates the effectiveness of the proposed method in detecting signals, and can be applied in real situations consequently.
