The construction industry has experienced dramatic changes in the past 10-15 years. An increased utilization of alternative delivery methods such as Design-Build, CM at Risk, and Integrated Project Delivery has been quantified. There are new and modified roles for design and construction professionals. One of the most significant changes has been the use of Building Information Modeling. Eastman, Teicholz, Sacks and Liston (2011, p. vii) state that the term "Building Information Modeling" or BIM was first introduced in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry about eight years ago. The authors explain that "BIM is not just a technology change, but also a process change."
