The literature on the causes and consequences of the recent global financial crisis is vast. So far, this topic has been studied from legal, economic, and public policy perspectives, while great emphasis has been placed on financial crisis management and regulatory reform at international, regional, and domestic levels. The book under review is a welcome addition to this scholarship. It presents the first systems-theoretical analysis of this topic. The contributions examine the causes and dynamics of, and reactions to, the crisis in the context of the general structural transformations in modern society, and explore its constitutional implications.
