SECURE TRANSMISSION OF SENSITIVE DATA USING SYSTEM FONTS TECHNIQUE

Mobile phones has become ubiquitous and a general purpose device. SMS is one of the widely used services in mobile phones by the public throughout the world. One of the main issues in today's digitized world regarding communication is information security and privacy. For establishing hidden communication, a variety of methods have been proposed, among which steganography is a relatively new concept. In steganography the data is hidden in a cover media such as picture or text. This paper offers a new method for secret exchange of information through SMS. In mobile phones, two default types of fonts are used: System and Proportional fonts, which have related figures to human visualization and cannot recognized by human eye. The proposed method hides the secret data (0,1) in cover SMS message by changing the fonts of each character by one of those two fonts. After embedding, the Stegomessage will look like an common message but each character drawn in one of these fonts. In extraction side, it must analyze each character font to retrieve secret information. This method has been implemented in J2ME platform and tested on Android OS based mobile phone.
