摘要

Radio over Fiber (RoF) technology is playing an important role in high speed wireless communication systems. RoF systems are widely used in inside buildings like big shopping malls, airport premises, hospitals etc. due to their flexible design as a means of reducing infrastructure cost and antenna site complexity. This paper simulates the 10 GHz bidirectional radio over fiber communication model at a bit rate of 10 GB/s for different types of single mode fibers. Maximum Q-factor and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) values at various dispersion levels have been obtained for different single mode fibers having length of 10 km each in uplink and downlink connection. From simulated results it has been observed that the performance of Sumitomo ZPlus 1550 fiber is better and it gives good Q-factor and SNR value in comparison with other single mode fibers for radio over fiber communication system. Maximum Q-factor value of 16.53 dB at a dispersion of 20.5 psm/km with fiber core effective area Aeff = 110 m~2 has been reported in this paper.
