Advanced Mobile Applications for Law Enforcement

In this paper, a novel mobile application for lawrnenforcement personnel, AlaCOP Mobile, is presented. Thernapplication is designed for the iPhone and iPad platforms,rnutilizing their intentionally mobile-minded hardware design asrna low cost alternative to laptops and their peripherals. Featuresrninclude the ability to: capture and securely upload photos,rnaudio and video; visualize agent locations in near real-timernwith interactive maps; and allow access to the NationalrnCriminal Information Center (NCIC). In addition, novelrnrendering and message threading techniques are discussedrnwhich utilize the multicore architecture implemented in thernmore recent versions of the iPhone (iPhone 4s) and iPad (iPadrn2).
