Walking Stick Helper For Visually Impaired Using Image Processing

To help the visually impaired people by voice commands through image processing and to convey them that what obstacle is present in their walking paths. In this we are going to place the equipments which are going to work in this system in the walking stick. The proximity sensor can perform in a ring shaped pattern. The size of the proximity sensor varies. This senses the object from micrometers to centimetres. The small size of the sensor is able to sense in many space-constrained places. The pit sensor infrared sensor is used to detect the pit in the walking paths. The water sensor is used to detect the water in the walking paths. Then after sensing the object the camera Pano (ⅥⅩ)-Mini is a tiny - multi sensor based panoramic camera which creates 360 degree panoramic images and captures 4 individual CMOS images in a single time. This produces a good image quality. The object sensed and the image is embedded into an Intel 8085 microprocessor. Then we are integrating the GPS into the microprocessor. This GPS helps the visually impaired to identify the location where they are present. This tells them where they present according to their direction and location. These locations using GPS are also generated through voice commands only. The battery provides the voltage supply for the microprocessor. If the charge of the battery reduces it gets automatically charged without any help. The MATLAB programming and embedded c programming is used for the controlling of the microprocessor 8085. Then from the microprocessor the micro level image processing is done with the sensed image and the image captured. After this the image which is done image processing is then send to the database which is created using the visual basic. The voice IC APR 9301 is used to store the sounds inside it. There we are storing the sounds for the devices which we are going to identify to get it as output as voice commands. If the image which is processed matches the database then the voice IC APR 9301 generates a sound and the sound is transmitted with the help of a Bluetooth. Then the sound is received in the receiver side also with the help of a Bluetooth but via: headset. So, that this system works very intelligently to convey the message through voice commands for the visually impaired persons what is present on their walking paths. This system acts according to the direction of the person. So by using this visually impaired persons can walk freely on their walking paths without any hesitation. The cost of this system is also very cheap compared to any other systems. This walking stick is even folded and this is kept safely compared to other systems.
