Radex-Heraklith (RHI AG), a Vienna-based industrial firm with holdings throughout the world, announced it has completed its US$ 540 million acquisition of the US company Global Industrial Technologies and its major asset, Harbison-Walker Refractories of Pittsburgh. Besides the increase in competitiveness and market performance, RHI wants to achieve sustainable synergies and cost savings. The resulting American combined refractories companies will do business in the future as a newly formed refractory group RHI Refractories America, Inc, (RHI America), headquartered in Pittsburgh. Thus RHI enhanced its position as the world's largest producer.
