EFFECTS OF OXY FUEL ON GLASS MELTING PROPERTIES

It has been shown that oxy fuel glass melting gives many technology advantages including an increase in furnace productivity and in glass qualify. Part of these advantages are due to the change of the combustion atmosphere which influences the behaviour of the molten glass bath. This article will illustrate the effects of oxy fuel on the glass melting properties to show how some of the previously reported oxy fuel advantages are possible to obtain through the careful analysis of the effects of the change of combustion atmosphere on the glass melt and the identification of the correct adjusted furnace settings.
