EFFECT OF CHOICE OF REFRACTORIES ON GLASS QUALITIES

Lasting success at the industrial level can only be obtained through total customer satisfaction. In the glass industry, the choice of refractories is an essential factor in obtaining optimal glass quality. This article will describe the on-going research carried out by SEFPRO to reduce glass inclusions originating from glass contact and superstructure refractory materials in fossil fired furnaces melting soda-line and potash glass. The criteria for choosing the correct refractory product according to the area of the furnace and operating conditions are also discussed.
