Turkey Seeks Partner For Iraq Bid

Turkey's TPAO hopes to be able to find a partner to form a consortium to bid in Iraq's first post-invasion oil and gas licensing round by the end of this year.rnTPAO boss Mehmet Uysal told Platts on a visit to Tokyo that he was speaking to prequalified Japanese companies such as Mitsubishi, Inpex and Japex. The Iraqi government has presented details of six major oil fields and two big gas fields to international oil companies, including the Turkish state-owned oil company.rnWith the companies now jockeying to form consortia to bid in the round, Uysal traveled to Tokyo. Officials at Mitsubishi and Inpex declined to comment on their talks with TPAO but a Japex official confirmed that the companies had talked about seeking areas of joint development in Iraq and other regions.
