Gazprom mulls JV for Shell's assets

Gazprom EP International may team up with a local company to bid for Shell's onshore assets in Nigeria. Gazprom EP International CEO Boris Ivanov said November 3 that a local Nigerian company had approached Gazprom.rn"We are investigating the issue right now, looking at data in preparation with this partner and Shell," Ivanov said on the sidelines of an industry conference. He earlier told delegates at the conference his company had met recently with Shell officials in Paris to talk about the Anglo-Dutch major's divestment plans in Nigeria.rnShell Petroleum Development Company has sold three of its onshore blocks in the Niger Delta and is shortly expected to seal a deal on a fourth.rnAnalysts says the company wants to complete the disposal before presidential elections scheduled for January and before a new government takes office in May.
