Pakistan offers 17 blocks for E&P

Pakistan will offer 17 oil and gas blocks in the country's next licensing round in June, an official at the energy ministry said April 30. Companies will be able to submit their bids on June 30 for the blocks which are located in the provinces of Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan and Khyber-Pukhtoonkhawa (previously known as the North WestrnFrontier Province), said the director of petroleum concessions, Mohammad Naeem Malik.rnIn October 2009, the government awarded 41 blocks to 10 companies, after putting up 53 blocks on offer.rnThe companies awarded the 41 blocks were Pakistan's state-owned Oil and Gas Development Corporation, Pakistan Petroleum, local independents New Horizon Exploration and Production, Orient Petroleum International and Oil and Gas Infrastructure, gas company Mari Gas, Pakistan Oilfields and little-known ICarbix.
