UK operator BP wants a third 3.8 million mt/year LNG production train to be built at Tangguh in Papua to monetize its gas reserves. But the government is proposing to build fertilizer and petrochemical projects there to make more use of its own gas resources, and there is not enough gas for both markets. The Indonesian government last year asked BP to allocate 120-180 million cubic feet/d from Tangguh for two to three proposed fertilizer plants to be built near the LNG facility.
