Trials highlight innovative on-site food waste disposal methods

When it comes to responsible disposal of food waste, Mitie's waste management business is always looking for solutions that their commercial clients can easily employ. Yearly food waste statistics expose the ever increasing amount of food waste in the UK, whether domestic or commercial. The UK Government's Waste and Resource Digest 2013 reported that restaurants topped the bill in the service industry for not segregating their food waste and recycling it. Well over 90% of that food waste was disposed of as part of general refuse or by sink disposal into the sewers. Restaurants were closely followed in this practice by pubs and hotels.
