State oil company sonangol has launched a US$1.5bn loan into general syndication via co-ordinating bank Standard Chartered. This new facility comes soon after the company closed a seven-year US$2bn pre-export loan in July this year, which was also co-ordinated by StanChart. The Angolan government is Sonangol's sole shareholder and the company is the sole concessionaire for the country's exploration of oil and gas.
