Unlikely boost for HK foreign listings

Nirvana asia, the region's largest provider of funeral services, is set to become the first company from beyond Greater China to list in Hong Kong since last December. The Malaysia-based company filed an application proof on the website of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong on October 3. It aims to raise about US$300m in November, according to sources close to the transaction. Nirvana operates 10 cemeteries, 12 columbarium facilities and two funeral homes in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Most Hong Kong-listed companies operate businesses in Hong Kong and China, and Nirvana's decision to list in the SAR underlines the appeal of the city's stock market versus other Asian rivals.
