Europe bank resolution deal criticised

European finance ministers have defied scepticism about their ability to reach a deal on the single resolution mechanism before the final session of the current European Parliament next month, as they hammered out an agreement last week after a marathon 16-hour session. Both sides, as well as the European commission, touted the deal as a major step forward towards completing a banking union, providing a faster way of resolving failing banks while avoiding undue political interference. But analysts and MEPs still expressed considerable doubts about this.
