As an excitingly odd year in the Swiss franc markets draws to a close, it looks as if, barring any issuance before the end of the calendar year, 2015 saw a total of SFr54.321bn (US$54.6bn) printed in the public debt markets. By sector, finandals made up the largest part, with SFr33.218bn, 61.2% of the year's takings. That included a chunky SFr16.228bn (or 48.9% of FIG, and 29.9% of the total) from Swiss covered issuers PfZ and PSHypo, and a farther SFr550m of international covered issuance. In addition, there was SFr14.735bn of senior debt and SFr1.705bn of subordinated and hybrid paper. Corporates saw SFrl4.44bn, or 26.6% of the total, and SSAs SFr6.352bn, split SFr2.145bn from international names and SFr4.207bn from domestic Cantons and municipalities. That makes for 11.7% of the total, split 3.9% and 7.8%. There was only one ABS deal, comprising 0.06% of the total.
