Anshu jain had the face of a man who hadn't got his way on his video presentation announcing Deutsche Bank's new strategy. Deutsche's board had discussed two options: one that involved Deutsche being a standalone investment bank and asset management business (shedding its retail operations completely); and another, more vague plan involving cost-cutting and a spin-off of Postbank. The bank opted for the latter, even though Anshu is believed to have favoured the former, which confusingly was called Model 5.
