The rising tide of merger and acquisition deal flow in 2014 failed to lift boutique investment bank greenhill, with the firm posting lacklustre fourth-quarter results - compounding a disappointing set of earnings in the previous three months. For the first time in years, the firm had to admit that it did not meet a key objective of increasing its market share of the global advisory fee pool. "After achieving this objective for several consecutive years, we fell short this year," said Greenhill chief executive Scott Bok.
