The LSE's xavier rolet and Deutsche Boerse's Carsten Kengeter certainly put on a good show of solidarity when they unveiled their merger agreement last week. "Both Carsten and I were together at Goldman Sachs," said Rolet, "and as such we speak the international language of finance." This is as close as bankers come to professing affection for one another. Substitute "Goldman Sachs" for "university" and finance for "love" and you have the basis for a convincing marriage. They're even splitting the marital home between the UK and Germany, although presumably the stag do will be in London, not Frankfurt.
