Oman telecommunications (Omantel) has opened its debut QR50m (US$129.9m) sukuk issue for subscription, the former monopoly said on Wednesday. The Islamic bond will have a lifespan of five years, with investors allowed to subscribe in both US dollars and rials, Omantel said. Subscription runs from January 11 to January 26 inclusive. The telecoms operator said last Monday it had mandated HSBC, Notional Bank of Oman and Standard Chartered as arrangers for the transaction.
