Out on Bail The sale of a 25% stake in Allied Irish Banks is expected to kick off this week. It's a first step towards the full reprivatisation of AIB, which was rescued from the brink of collapse almost seven years ago leaving the state with a 99.9% stake. The government expects the sale to raise up to €3bn, but it's taking no chances of a Royal Mail-style mispricing: AIB will issue warrants to the government that will come good should shares surge in the relisted bank.
