BOC steps up for Syngenta buy

China National Chemical Corp has raised US$20bn mainly from the issue of perpetual bonds to finance its purchase of Swiss seeds company Syngenta, according to a regulatory filing. Bank of China is the single largest investor in the long-term financing, providing half of that amount in a private deal that ranks as China's biggest perpetual bond offering by far.
