Canadian banks overcame worries about the country's real estate market to beat expectations in the latest quarter, thanks to help from their capital markets activities. Canada's largest banks are all heavily tied to the country's real estate market which has shown signs of stress - but it hasn't cracked. Worries about the mortgage market intensified after troubles at mortgage lender HOME CAPITAL GROUP. But most of the banks said they should remain largely unaffected.
