French banks want to further reshape their investment banking businesses and are considering making acquisitions and divestments in order to do so. "We are in a continuous process to refine the group's portfolio. These are not major mergers but investments or divestments so we are the right size in particular businesses or geographies," said Severin Cabannes, deputy chief executive of societe generale in charge of global banking and investor solutions.
