General Mills defies stock pressure to raise US$1bn

Branded food company general mills raised US$1bn in equity late Tuesday, partly funding the US$8bn acquisition of blue buffalo pet products. General Mills sold 22.73m shares at US$44 each, a 2.9% all-in discount after one day of marketing but only after a nearly 25% slump in the stock price from levels in late January.
