Citi jumps up UK blue-chip broker ranks

CITIGROUP has jumped to fifth most popular stockbroker for UK blue-chip companies, up from seventh three months ago, after adding six FTSE 100 clients in the last quarter. Citigroup was stockbroker to 18 FTSE 100 firms on August 11, up from 12 clients in May, according to data compiled by Adviser Rankings. That lifted Citi above COLDMAN SACHS and BARCLAYS, and accelerated a gradual rise by the US bank from its roster of eight major UK clients in 2005. Citigroup said it has even more than reported by Adviser Rankings, and now has 20 FTSE 100 stockbroker mandates, which would lift it up to joint fourth in the rankings.
