NOMURA'S ESG CREDENTIALS received a boost after it revealed it has a colony of rare orchids on the rooftop of its London headquarters. Mark Patterson, the bank's ecologist (presumably that's not a full-time position), told The Times that Nomura has 17 species of bee and 159 species of plant in the roof garden. Such ecological kudos will no doubt have rivals green with envy. Given the current feverish recruitment climate, don't rule out Nomura's orchids turning up at Jefferies in a couple of weeks.
