Exane adds to BNPP equities push

BNP PARIBAS has agreed to buy the 50% of equities broker EXANE that it does not already own in a push to offer a full in-house trading service in its expanding prime brokerage division and give a lift to its equities ambitions. BNP Paribas has talked about creating a full-service European bank to take on major US banks such as JP Morgan, Citigroup and Bank of America, which offer a full suite of services to corporates and institutions. Buying out Exane puts another piece in this jigsaw.
