StanChart profit falls 40%

STANDARD CHARTERED'S profit dropped 40% last quarter as income fell because of lower interest rates and credit impairment charges rose on the economic impact of Covid-19. The Anglo-Asian lender said its underlying profit for the July-September quarter came in at US$745m, down from US$1.24bn a year ago, on the back of a 12% slide in underlying revenues to US$3.52bn.
